SNOREMENDER INSTRUCTIONS

How to Use

Your SnoreMender should always be stored flat, in the recess in it's case. This is to maintain it's springiness when you wear it. When supplied, it will be 'face-up' in the case - you will find it easier to put back 'face-down' - both are equally effective.

To wear, fold the SnoreMender and place in the mouth with the short side up. Adjust so the upper and lower trays fit over the teeth.

The SnoreMender works by moving the bottom jaw forwards which can be felt as a forward pressure on the bottom jaw, indicating correct use - if put in upside down it will feel loose and will not push your lower jaw forwards.

The SnoreMender will work from the first night you wear it, but for the first week or two you may notice some discomfort in your jaw muscles and some aching in your teeth on waking, which is entirely normal as your body adjusts. Note that there is no permanent effect of SnoreMender on jaw or teeth. If you experience prolonged discomfort, please consult your dentist. Please note that it is designed to fit around 90% of the population - if you have a receding or protruding jaw it may not be suitable for you.

Occasionally at night your SnoreMender may fall out. This is normal and will happen less and less over time.

Some may find excess saliva or dry mouth - this is typical when using any oral appliance, including braces - be patient, your body will usually adjust within a week.

The key is to persevere - give yourself time to get used to it. Our staff includes users of SnoreMender over many years - if you have any difficulties please email us at help@snoremenders.co.uk for advice and assistance.

SnoreMender should not be used by growing children under any circumstances!

How to Clean

SnoreMender can be washed by hand in warm soap and water. When finished washing, hold it flat while drying with a towel, then store flat in the carrying case.

SnoreMender is made of heat sensitive material, so it should never be exposed to excess heat (for example if you have extremely hot tap water), or sterilized in boiling water - normal hand washing temperature is sufficient.

Longer Term Maintenance of SnoreMender

Over time, the hinges may become relaxed. The hinges act as springs, to hold the SnoreMender in place. You can restore the springiness by holding the hinges in hot water (73°C maximum) for about 15 seconds and keeping the SnoreMender in the flat position. Then, while still holding it flat, place it in cold water for 15 seconds to cool it own. This can usually be done by using your hot and cold taps, as long as your hot water is under 73°C (typical hot water taps are under 50°C).

Eventually your SnoreMender will need replacing - typical lifetimes are between one and two years. If you notice that it is becoming less effective then it is time to replace it. Visit www.snoremenders.co.uk to purchase a replacement.

Special Fitting

SnoreMender can be trimmed of excess material if there are parts of it that cause irritation, but you must never trim the inside of the lower tray or outside of the upper tray. Do not attempt to reposition the upper and lower trays - they are designed to be offset!

You can also mould the SnoreMender if a part of it is causing irritation or pressure. Do this by immersing only the portion of the SnoreMender causing irritation in hot water (max 73°C) and then moulding it with your fingers or a teaspoon. You can mould the device directly in your mouth after first warming the part needing adjustment, but be careful not to burn your mouth - don't heat it more than the hottest drink you are happy with in your mouth!

For those with an unusual mouth shape or severe class 2 or 3 malocclusion (protruding or receding jaw) - if you have trouble fitting the standard SnoreMender, you should consult your dentist for assistance as SnoreMender may not be suitable for you.

If you wear dentures, you can use the SnoreMender. However, you must wear your dentures before inserting the SnoreMender, and your dentures must fit securely.
